AboutBree Paulsen is a queer writer and artist living in Southern California that loves to draw monsters, historical fashion, and anything autumnal. She studied animation at Laguna College of Art of Design. She has illustrated children's books for Xist Publishing and created the webcomic Patrik the Vampire in 2013 (currently on hiatus).
Published by HarperCollins/Quilltree are Bree's bestselling middle grade graphic novel Garlic & the Vampire (2021) and its bestselling sequel Garlic & the Witch (2022). Both of which are ALA picks for Best Graphic Novels for Children Reading Lists of their respective years. Her next middle grade graphic novel is The Firelight Apprentice comes out October 29, 2024 with HarperCollins/Quilltree. She is currently working on her highly anticipated young adult adaptation of Dracula, which will be told from Mina's point of view.
